Show your Huskie pride and be a part of #GivingTuesdayNIU on Nov. 29!
In 2012, the #GivingTuesday movement was started in an effort to balance out the consumer-driven “holidays” of Black Friday and Cyber Monday and to bring the spirit of giving back to the holiday season. Taking place on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, the event has evolved into a global day of giving.
In order to make #GivingTuesdayNIU a success, we are looking to our alumni and friends to make a difference. There are a number of ways you can get involved and help. If you are on social media on Nov. 29, look for our posts and share them or share your reasons for giving to NIU using the hashtag #GivingTuesdayNIU. You can also make a donation to NIU or one of the colleges by visiting go.niu.edu/givingtuesday.
Every gift makes a big difference! In fact, this year the colleges are in a competition with each other to see who can get the greatest number of donations. Throughout the day on #GivingTuesdayNIU, donors can go to the #GivingTuesday page on the NIU Foundation’s website to track the progress of their college and to make a donation.
Many of the deans are joining the #GivingTuesdayNIU movement again this year by making challenge gifts. Their gifts will match all donations made by new donors up to $1,000.
Gifts made on #GivingTuesdayNIU and throughout the year support student scholarships, faculty-mentored research, new technology, out-of-class experiences, student organizations and much more.
