New Game Day Experiences

November 8th, 2017

Northern Illinois University Athletics will be adding new game day experiences for fans at home men’s and women’s basketball games this season and will bring back some fan favorites. Additions to the game day experience include changes to seating, concessions and in-game promotions.

New this season for all home women’s basketball games will be courtside seats that were previously only available for men’s home games. Fans with courtside seats will now be able to place concession orders with wait staff at their seat so they won’t have to miss any of the action on the court. Also joining the concession options at the Convocation Center this season will be Lukulo’s, which will be available in the south concourse.

The Family Meal Deal will be offered on doubleheader days (men’s and women’s home game on the same day). The deal will include four drinks and four hot dogs or a large pizza for $15, available at all three doubleheaders this season (Nov. 29, Feb. 10 and Feb. 17).

For weekday home games, Tuesday men’s games will celebrate “Taco Tuesdays” and Wednesday women’s games will be dubbed “Winning Wednesdays,” with promotions for each day. On “Taco Tuesdays,” fans can purchase walking tacos and margaritas, while on “Winning Wednesdays,” fans will receive a coupon after the game for a free hot dog or nachos and two discounted tickets to the next Wednesday home game.

In-game promotions will be presented by an emcee, who will serve as the host for all NIU home games. Some promotional prizes include winning free food from Jamhra and a free large pizza from Toppers or Rosati’s. Students can “Beat the Landlord” to win cash from Mason Properties, and inflatables will be available for children at select contests. Children  get free entry to games if they are a member of NIU Pup Club. Also on Feb. 17, Tyler’s Amazing Balancing Act will perform at the Convocation Center.

Season tickets are on sale now. Reserved-seat season tickets for NIU men’s basketball games are priced at $120 and Huskie women’s basketball season tickets are just $50.  Fans who are  2017 football season ticket members, NIU faculty and staff, members of the NIU Alumni Association, Varsity Club members and senior citizens (65+) can purchase men’s basketball season tickets for just $105 or women’s basketball season tickets for just $40.
