MPA 50th Anniversary
Established in 1963, NIU’s Master of Public Administration program is one of the oldest in the state. The program boasts more than 1,200 alumni who hold key public-service posts across the country, including about one-third of all Illinois city manager positions.
The excellence of the program is widely recognized. In 2012, the program was ranked fifth in the nation in the specialty field of city management and urban policy and 12th in the field of public finance and budgeting by U.S. News and World Report.
Several events are planned to celebrate the program’s first 50 years. A golf outing, educational seminar, and bike rally will be held this September; and an educational seminar and gala are scheduled to take place in April 2014.
