NIU Grad Walsh Lands Major Movie Role

Gabrielle WalshGabrielle Walsh, a 2011 NIU graduate, has landed the lead female role in the movie Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, which hits theaters today.

The 24-year-old actress from Indian Head Park, Illinois, moved to Los Angeles after graduating and partnered with an agent, according to Suburban Life Media. Before landing this major role, she appeared in commercials and short films.

Walsh, who majored in acting, studied under acclaimed acting coach Kathryn Gately at Northern and attended the Moscow Art Theater School.

The film, the fifth in a series of horror movies, is about a young man who experiences disturbing and unexplainable things after the death of his neighbor. Marisol, played by Walsh, and another friend struggle to save Jesse as they realize that he is marked for possession by a demonic entity.
