In the midst of the busiest time of the year—with the semester coming to a close, the last regular season football game, and holiday planning—Thanksgiving is a welcome pause and a time to reflect on what’s truly important.
Our blessings are abundant, and Dana and I are thankful for the warm welcome we have received at NIU and in the local greater DeKalb/Sycamore community.
We are fortunate to have students who are motivated and hungry for knowledge, as well as enthusiastic, caring faculty and staff who are experts in their fields and go the extra mile to position our students for success.
We are thankful to have involved and engaged alumni that number 225,000 strong. We are counting on your continued involvement as mentors and in providing all-important internship opportunities for current students to position them for career success.
We, collectively, are transforming the university. We are changing the way we educate our students. We are building a new, 21st century university. I am grateful for the input and support from each of you toward these efforts.
Dana and I wish all of you a joyous and peace-filled Thanksgiving and invite you and yours to Huskie Stadium Friday, Nov. 29, and Saturday, Nov. 30, as DeKalb plays host to the IHSA State Football Championships.
