Deering has served as Sherman’s chief operating officer since 2006 and has management experience at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin and Delnor Hospital in Geneva.
The Elgin resident brings more than 35 years of experience as a health care leader. Under her leadership, Sherman Hospital has achieved top results in health outcomes and patient, physician, and associate satisfaction, according to a Sherman press release.
Deering will become Sherman’s president effective January 1, when current Sherman President Rick Floyd becomes president of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
Prior to Sherman, she served as vice president of patient services, chief nursing officer, and chief clinical officer at Delnor Hospital. She also served as executive director of patient services at Saint Joseph Hospital.
She earned her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing from Northern Illinois University.
