The NIU Alumni Association is offering scholarships worth $2,000 to $3,000 to full-time students.
Through the Alumni Merit Scholarship program, $2,500 scholarships are awarded to NIU students who have a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average from all colleges attended.
Students must be currently enrolled, transferring to NIU, or re-entering an undergraduate program at NIU with some course work completed. And they must be attending the fall 2014 semester and spring 2015 semester full time (at least 12 semester hours) at Northern.
In addition, a student’s community and university involvement will be considered.
The Alumni Merit Scholarship provides $1,250 each semester (fall and spring).

For more than 50 years, the NIU Alumni Association has provided financial assistance to thousands of students. Last year, $25,000 from the merit scholarship program was awarded.
A second scholarship program is provided by the O’Brien Vrba Scholarship Trust for full-time juniors, seniors, and graduate students. This private scholarship provides $2,000 to $3,000 for the 2014-2015 academic year to undergraduates with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and to graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
The annual adjusted gross income of a family cannot exceed $75,000.
Leadership and civic or community involvement will also be considered.
