Laura Anderko, one of this year’s NIU Alumni Association award winners, will speak on “Public Health Issues in a Changing Climate” at 2 p.m. Friday, April 25, in Wirtz Hall, Room 103A.
Nationally known for her environmental work, Anderko earned her Master of Science in nursing, with a specialty in community health, from NIU. She received her doctorate in public health and bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Anderko, the Robert and Kathleen Scanlon chair in values-based health care at Georgetown University’s School of Nursing & Health Studies, also has been honored by the White House as a Champion of Change.
As one of 10 award recipients, Anderko will also receive her alumni award on Friday at the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center. She is the winner of the 2014 Outstanding Alumni Award for the College of Health and Human Sciences.
