Northern Illinois University is inviting all football season ticket holders and Huskie Athletics Support Fund (HASF) donors to get an insider’s look at the 2014 NIU football signing class at a special National Signing Day Party beginning at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2014.

Join NIU Head Coach Rod Carey and his staff for a social hour, followed by dinner, and a discussion and video presentation on the 2014 Huskie football signees. The event will be held at Faranda’s Banquet Center, 302 Grove Street in DeKalb. Tickets are $35 per person or $350 for a table of eight, which includes the chance to enjoy dinner with a member of the NIU football staff. Tickets MUST be purchased in advance (no walk-ups). Call Amy Schmidt in the HASF Office at 815-753-1923 or e-mail her at

The event is open to all 2013 football season ticket holders and HASF donors. If you are not a current HASF donor, you can “Commit to NIU” by joining the HASF today, either by calling 815-753-9198 or donating online. Don’t miss the chance to be there for this special event on what is annually one of the biggest days of the year for NIU football.

After posting a 12-2 record and playing in its fourth consecutive Mid-American Conference Championship game and sixth straight bowl game in 2013, NIU enters the 2014 campaign as one of just three FBS programs in the nation with 11 or more wins in each of the last four years. The Huskies completed the 2013 regular season with a 12-0 record and have won a nation-leading 26 consecutive games in their home stadium dating back to 2009. In 2013, NIU broke nine school offensive records behind All-America quarterback Jordan Lynch, who finished third in voting for the 2013 Heisman Trophy to record the highest finish ever by a player from the MAC.

NIU opens 2014 spring practices on Tuesday, March 18, with the Huskie Bowl, set for Saturday, April 19, at Huskie Stadium.
