Campus improvements show investment in student success
Dana and I recently had the opportunity to join President Emeritus Peters, Eric Weldy, Steve Cunningham, and others on a tour of the newly renovated Gilbert Hall, which will return to service as a student residence this fall. NIU listened well to what students wanted and developed a state-of-the-art facility designed around student interaction.
This is the same type of thoughtful consideration that the university undertook in investing in facility improvements across the campus, as other projects such as the Grant D Tower renovation, the new Outdoor Recreation Sports Complex, the privately-funded Chessick Indoor Practice Center, and other campus improvements take shape for this fall.
The past six-month period has been among the most aggressive in terms of the number of campus improvements that are transforming our living-learning environment, and I am looking forward to seeing the impact these improvements will have on student success.
