Alumni speak to computer science students

October 30th, 2012

Last week, dozens of NIU students took advantage of the opportunity to hear from IT and web design professionals at “Real World Advice from Real World Professionals,” a panel discussion and networking event held by the NIU Computer Science Alumni Council (CSAC) in concert with NIU’s computer science department.

Moderated by alumnus Steve Goldman, director of enterprise architecture for the CME Group, the panel was composed of eight NIU alumni: Steve Barger, Laura Barker, Greg Berres, Joe Carroll, Brian Dausman, Joe Kessler, Lance Klein, and Bob Sislow. Nick Karonis, chair of the computer science department, and CSAC President Jim Huguelet, president of the Huguelet Group, also contributed.

The event represents one way the CSAC strives to fulfill its mission of developing strong relationships with alumni in IT professions, providing guidance and support to the computer science department, assisting students with their transition into the workplace, and helping position NIU in the greater IT industry.
